FCYS 2009-2010 Auditions for Wind, Brass and Percussion Players will be Monday October 26, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:30pm at New Albany High school in the Band Room
For your audition, come prepared to play a scale and 90 seconds of solo or ensemble music that demonstrates your abilities.
The Philharmonic is open to string, wind, and percussion players and rehearses from 6-8:30 on Mondays.
The Mini-Orchestra is for developing string players through 8th grade and rehearses from 4-5 on Mondays.
Membership is by audition only and requires that you are taking private lessons. You must also play your instrument in your school ensemble, if one is offered.
Students can receive HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT for active participation in the FCYS.

Members of the Mini-Orchestra and the Philharmonic will be traveling to perform in Walt Disney World, Florida, for their 25th anniversary Magic Music Days Celebration, March 2010

Disney Magic Music Days congratulates Floyd County Youth Symphony “Mini Orchestra” on being selected to be part of the entertainment at the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort!
We are scheduled to participate in a “You’re Instrumental” Performing Arts Workshop Monday, March 22, 2010, at 1:30 pm in a Backstage Entertainment Rehearsal Hall in Epcot. Our special presentation will be a stage performance at the
Waterside Stage located in the Downtown Disney Marketplace. TUESDAY, MARCH 23.
As professional Disney show times are constantly being updated, our performance time will not be set until approximately three weeks prior to our performance date.

MISSION STATEMENT
As music educators and students, we set as our goals the following:
to improve and grow as musicians by performing the finest music in the orchestra repertoire.
to serve as a musical outreach to our community and increase awareness of the wealth of musical talent among our young people.
to provide opportunities for performing in various environments including concert tours appropriate to the ages and musical abilities of the students.
to encourage growth as citizens as well as musicians.
